Naples Golden Gate Canal Largemouth & Peacock Bass Fishing

Here is your Naples Golden Gate Canal Largemouth & Peacock Bass Fishing report. We got to fish Naples Golden Gate Canal system today, after a couple long days of heavy winds. I did not want to play the dangerous game of going out in 30-40 mph winds. Luckily, the wind finally calmed down.

Thew morning was calm but the effects of the storm was still present. The bite early on, when it was cooler, was not the best but once the sun heated things up, the fish were on.

The largest peacock bass was about 3 1/2 pounds. We also got several largemouth bass in the 5 to 6 pound range. We threw a mix of artificial and live bait. The peacock bass love the shiners, they go wild for them.

Most peacock bass like to hang around pretty cool water temperatures. So they weren’t in the mood to chase the artificial, but the live bait worked really well.

The wind picked up and started blowing 10 to 15 mph, which actually made it nice out. Once the water warms up more, the peacocks will start to school up. Overall, we had a great day. That’s it for now, keep searching for those big ones.
